Witch (Jean Tepperman)
They told me
I smile prettier with my mouth closed.
They said -
better cut your hair -
long, it's all frizzy,
looks Jewish.
They hushed me in restaurants
looking around them
while the mirrors above the table
jeered infinite reflections
of a raw, square face.
They questioned me
when I sang in the street.
They stood taller at tea
smoothly explaining
my eyes on the saucers,
trying to hide the hand grenade
in my pants pocket,
or crouched behind the piano.
They mocked me with magazines
full of breasts and lace,
published in their triumph
when the doctor's oldest son
married a nice sweet girl.
They told me tweed-suit stories
of various careers of ladies.
I woke up at night
afraid of dying.
They built screens and room dividers
to hide unsightly desire
sixteen years old
raw and hopeless
they buttoned me into dresses
covered with pink flowers.
They waited for me to finish
then continued the conversation.
I have been invisible,
weird and supernatural.
I want my black dress.
I want my hair
curling wild around me.
I want my broomstick
from the closet where I hid it.
Tonight I meet my sisters
in the graveyard.
Around midnight
if you stop at a red light
in the wet city traffic,
watch for us against the moon.
We are screaming,
we are flying,
laughing, and won't stop.

wondering why i don’t like mutton

If you could read my mind love
When you reach the part where heartaches comeThe hero would be me
So on my way home, I saw about 100 SAS junior boys playing soccer in their field, so carefree, so worry-free...sigh wait till they come to jc and take Alevels! :|
I was just on the bus home, listening to the sound of the bus engine, watching the town fly by and staring into space. I secretly enjoy this kind of moments, where nothing gets between me and my thoughts. For once I sat in a same pose for a long while, stagnant. At the start, I first checked the sides/space beside my seat, because I am extra wary of the very unsightly things people leave/throw there, things like gum and used tissue, yuck. And I thought I saw a polka-dotted eel(!!!) but in the next second, I realise it's just a broken hairclip someone must've dropped and how ridiculous my thought sounds. Occasionally, I would feel trembles from my phone, probably caring texts from friends and mum asking how my last paper went, which I decide I'd mercilessly ignore till home (haha replied already)
Now I'm home and I need to decide if I should watch P.S. I love you or read Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult. 'Cause in a number of days, these special peaceful mornings won't exist again, unless I take off from school, but as if I'm oblivious to how, nowadays, MC=More Chores(homework) > Medical Certificate?
Once in a while during the bus ride, I clasp my hands to talk to God, to share about my day. How lovely to have a companion 24/7, someone who will willingly lend me His ears, and not only shares my sorrows and joy but who UNDERSTANDS how I feel better than I do. As intangible as He seems, yet I feel His unfailing presence always with me :)
Sometimes I imagine what people think when they see students at public places in uniform @10 in the morning, like do they maybe think we are playing truant or something? Hahaha. Not that I suppose people actually bother, but I like to know how people think. When I people-watch, I can't help but start wondering what they're thinking, where they're going, whether they know God, what're they're doing in the lives currently.....
Now that my one week of torture is over, till schoolhorror strikes back, I shall cherish this long weekend ahead (can't wait for worldcup with Affy & Guang tmr / A.C.E outing on monday^^) and pretend I am in some pretty garden in Venice.
Ciao, folks.
